What is childlike faith?

“Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,
‘I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to the childlike.”

Luke 10:21

Are you longing for Jesus to reveal himself to you during this beautiful season of Advent?

What measures do you feel God calling you to prepare your heart for this revelation?

In Luke 10, Jesus is very clear that there are things that will not be revealed to us through reason.  There comes a point in our childhood that we begin to enter the realm of reason and life becomes a more complicated state of choices, and rationalization.  It’s our gift of knowledge and wisdom that help us to discern this bumpy, curvy road we call life.

Jesus states that these things will be revealed to the childlike. To the one who is able to remove the complex chaos of reason and look underneath at the simplicity of our faith.

What is this simplicity?

Perhaps, it is the mere essence of trust?  Or the simple understanding of love?  Maybe, it’s the hopefulness of the limitless possibilities of what God can do in our journey without questioning?

How do we achieve this childlike faith Jesus mentions?

To trust like a child?

To give and receive love like a child?

I invite you to contemplate where you are on the spectrum of childlike faith and what you need to do to remove all the layers of reason and rationalization to move closer to this childlike faith.
