Boast in hope

“We boast in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope, and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the holy Spirit that has been given to us.”

Romans 5:2-5

Ever accomplished something that you were so excited about you wanted to tell the entire world?

What would that excitement look like if you were telling someone about the glory of God?

In a class I took a few years ago, we did these cardboard testimonies as a reflection.  It was a silent reflection of a state of brokenness on one side and on the other side where you are today.  It was a powerful reflection of boasting each of our afflictions and revealing that our hope in God did not disappoint.  It was in this very hope that our faith in God persevered in those afflictions.

This week of Advent and the consecutive weeks to follow, we are invited to look into our lives, and our hearts purging the things that are not necessary to make space for Christ.  This will be the start of an Advent cardboard testimony with hope that Christ will not disappoint and reveal himself as we receive him.  What better story to shout to the entire world, boasting the love og God that has poured into our hearts.
