Finding peace in the chaos

“The concern of the flesh is death, but the concern of the spirit is life and peace.” Romans 8:6

Ever opened a storage box of Christmas lights, that were placed neatly 11 months ago, and found a knot of Christmas lights?

Does your life feel like that ball of tangled Christmas lights?

Chaos drains life from our body, resulting in feelings such as exhaustion, anxiety or depression.

The deeper we dive in search of Jesus in our hearts the closer we move towards peace in our lives, ordering chaos.

In order to untangle the ball of life we are wrapped in, it’s essential we search our hearts, cleansing them of all the clutter and chaos so that Christ can enter .

When I think of this second week of Advent, I think we are invited to look at the chaos that tangles our lives and discern the areas we are focused more on the physical than the spiritual. After this discernment, the invitation might be to pick one or two spiritual gifts to focus on that will free the knots in our lives.
