Fear not!

“Be strong, fear not! Here is your God. He comes with vindication; With divine recompense.  He comes to save you.”

Isaiah 35:4

I was listening to the radio the other day and the radio personality host was talking about the story of Christmas and how many times the angels said “fear not” or “do not be afraid”. She went on to talk about the time in which Jesus was born and how fearful the people were because of the tyranny in the world. In a way, our world today is not much different. 2020 brought fear to many in various different ways. For many, it was difficult to hang on to their faith.

How could a God who loves us, allow these things to occur?  Why would He not sweep down and rescue us?

Because of all 2020 brought into our lives and all that it has taken away, this Advent becomes a pivotal moment of accepting all that occurred in 2020 and to have faith in what God promises. In a few more weeks, He delivers to each of us at the doorstep of our hearts, a baby. Not just any baby, but a baby that represents His love, His mercy, His compassion and His promises to us.

Will your heart be open and ready to receive a gift tagged with your name on it?

I invite you to sit and review this year.  Have you been afraid?  Have you been angry?  Have you lost hope?  Have you lost faith?

Pause in silence and sit with those thoughts and feelings.

Now that you reviewed the year in your rearview mirror, I invite you to look forward and imagine the possibilities that this Christmas will bring, the abundance that your Father will bless you with.

Our happiness and joy is found in accepting the things of today with a faith and hope in the promises of tomorrow. This is what the season of Advent and Christmas deliver into our hearts. Our job is to ready our hearts, “prepare the way of the Lord!” (Isaiah 40:3)
