What if the life you were living was written in a book. The pages, a collection of moments. The chapters, seasons in your life. A few main characters, some just passing through to define the smaller details on the page. And at any given time, you could flip back through the pages and read and imagine the setting, the event, the people and see each tiny detail.
Do you believe that God is present in this story? Each page, each detail, that God is there?

Stop and let that settle.
God is present in every single detail of your story.
I’ve been a single mom for 9 years and some days it feels like I truly walk this journey alone. But then I think about those moments when I was at my weakest. Yep, God was there because I definitely couldn’t have overcome on my own. And that fills me with hope as the ink continues to flood the pages of my story. Katy Nichole and Big Daddy Weave have an awesome song, “God is in This Story,” that illustrates this presence in our lives that speaks volumes that we are not along on this journey/
The other day, I was listening to a podcast about a single mom’s journey. She described a prayerful reflection where her spiritual director prompted her to go back to a painful moment in her life and reenter it with the holy family and any deceased relatives or saints she was close to. She instructed her to bring them into the scene in prayer because they were present.
They were there.
God was there.
God surpasses all space and time.
Another nugget from the podcast this single mom mentioned was how God surpasses all space and time, therefore when we go back into the past we can pray for the present. A concept difficult to wrap my little brain around but something deep to hold on to as I reflect on God’s presence in my story then and now.
Lately my heart has been heavy in regards to my daughters. Some of it in regards to the affects of the past on the present, my role as a single parent and the journey I’m called to in their story as a character. The song and the podcast both speak to a place in my heart that God is in their story and I need to trust that He will find a way to blossom within them and it’s ok to visit the past and pray for the present moment because God is in both places. Perhaps that will strengthen them, provide a mantle of protection and guide their path. Only God knows how He has written their story and how my prayers will impact them. Again, this too fills me with a hope that I don’t quite understand and a peace in the present moment.
Perhaps there is someone in your story that you are concerned about or may be you are feeling alone in your own story. I invite you to listen to the song “God is in This Story” by Katy Nichole and Big Daddy Weave because God is in your story. It’s ok to go back to a place in time and invite Jesus, Mary, Joseph, those who have gone before us and pray on that page of your story. Since God surpasses all space and time and is present in the smallest detail, I invite you to pray for peace in the present moment as you go back into the past.
May the love of Christ be with you always.
Sorry it took a while to get around to reading this (had a little bit going on that day – LOL!) Beautiful reflection as always! God bless! ✝️🙏✌️
